{Sunday Spotlight}-Belle Vernon Area Newborn Photographer

Geez…Sunday’s roll aorund so quickly around here!  I have so many sessions from the past month to feature on the blog!!  Promise that next week, there will be a new session posted every day in an effort to cut down the list! But for today, the focus is on the Sunday Spotlight!

Tell us a little about you–your children, where you are from, etc

My name is Daniela Mallas.  I am originally from Bulgaria and I now live in the US with my husband and two chiildren – a 5 year old boy and a 15 month old girl.

When did your knitting hobby start?

I have had an interest in creative adventures as far back as I can recall.    Growing up in Bulgaria, I spent many summer vacations with my grandmother.   During the hot summer nights, all the neighborhood grandmas would meet at the benches under the streetlights and knit clothing while they reminisced about their past.  As a child, I would sit there and learn from them the skills and techniques needed to create beautiful clothing.   My mother and sister are also in the clothing manufacturing industry and were instrumental in my development in this field.   I also had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe due to my father’s tourist business which exposed me to the different cultural styles of clothing.

What made you interested in creating custom products?

I have always wanted to find time for knitting and crocheting and was never able to. When my daughter was born and I desided to stay at home with the kids, I saw an opportunity. Having a boy and a girl allowed me to look around for interesting clothing for their professional pictures.   One area that I was finding difficulty in was locating unusual/unique  hats.    Due to this, using my childhood family skills, I created one or two hats for my own children.    I began receiving compliments (and requests) from friends regarding my hats.    As you have already figured out, this is how it all began.    Being a mother  myself, my hats are created with love and attention to the types of details a parent will look for.

How long have you been in business?

My business, So Cuddly Creations, is less than a year old.   I slowly started building my clientele and hope to be able to grow even more in the future.

Where can we find you (FB address, etc)?

I am currently selling some of my items on Etsy. You can find my store at http://www.etsy.com/shop/socuddlycreations

I had the pleasure of using one of SoCuddlyCreations little newborn hats for a shoot!  So perfectly sweet!
